ALBUM SHOW NOTES
In 1999 the band American Football released their first album, and promptly broke up afterwards. But that first album was a great album, and little by little it caught on to people who get into this sort of thing, including me. The band got back together in 2014 and have been working steadily ever since, and have just released a 25th anniversary edition of the album featuring another 10 tracks. But we're not going to play that album.
You see, at the same time as this was issued comes a 2nd album that is full of covers of the material from the original release of the first album, all done by other bands that are fans of that album. Simply called "American Football (covers)" this features versions by Iron & Wine, Yvette Young, Manchester Orchestra and others - a different artist for each of the 9 songs. We're going to play that album on this week's album show.
Other new releases worth checking out are Tension II from Kylie Minogue, Jerry Cantrell's I Want Blood, Lush Life from The Belair Lip Bombs, The Mighty Several from Paul Heaton, and of course Heavy Lifting from protest power band MC5. These albums plus the Anerican Football albums are available wherever you usually get your music.
The Album Show plays on Thursdays at 9am and 9pm Pacific Standard Time.

For those of you who stay away from Spotify the current week's additions will be played on Wednesdays. This is a change from prior programming: what we're going to do going forward is just play the music added this week only. Every other day will be the usual rotation, but we set aside Wednesdays for just the new additions for the week. This week that's 43 songs which we will play in the same order that they're in on the Spotify playlist of the same name up at the top of this post. So if you tune in at just about any time on Wednesday you will hear the whole playlist.
10 at 10
One last programming note: Every Saturday at 10pm and again on Sunday at 10am and 10pm we will feature our show "10 at 10", where we play 10 (and sometimes 11 or even 12!) songs from a year we pick at random. Again, all times are PST. Last week I played a group of songs from 1994, and this week we're going to pick another year we haven't gone to yet - from the decade previous..
As always, you can go to https://global.citrus3.com:2020/public/radiofreecalifornia to listen to the station, and there is an imbed below. And did you know the station is available as an app? It's only for Google Play (sorry iphone users - Apples terms and conditions were too restrictive for me) but you can listen on your phone at your convenience too.
In doing a quick analysis of the 10s of people who come to this site I have come to realize that more people come for the Cheap Shots than for anything else. So...
Cheap shots:
Elon Musk is a ratfucker.
What the fuckin' fuck have they been drinking?
Um, Elon, this is a felony. A Decades in prison type of felony.
Would people please stop telling him how to do this? He's not very bright - don't help.
Trump working the Drive Thru? Didn't happen. Fake News.
Given that the place was closed for the day I hope that the employees drafted into this stunt got paid.
No. No he's not.
I am often amazed at how much Mansplaining Mike Johnson does of himself.
Because of where I live, I voted for The Enemy Within.
I don't even think the Supremes can call this an official act of office.
The religious organization (IRS Approved) that opened the "Samuel Alito's Mom's Satanic Abortion Clinic" has opened up a second location.
Maybe this is why the Secret Service has managed to "allow" more than one person to get a clean shot at him.
Ah, the punchline.
Yes. Yes he can.
"I'm one of those lousy immigrants."
At some point they're going to move away from brown-skinned people and go after darker hues.
And because I love you have you not yet seen CNN's best kept secret, starring Roy Wood Jr.?
