Radio Free California Episode 2444, radio station notes, Nazis = bad, and more!

New music from The Effigies (Hat tip to Skafish who is also on this playlist), Von Hertzen Brothers, Glay, Flat Party, Palomino Blood, 2nd Grade,  Queen of Jeans, BBBL, Ukraine's The Sixters, Linkin Park and much more. Enjoy!

ALBUM SHOW NOTES

Brothers Mikko, Jonne and Kie Von Hertzen originally played in their own individual bands before joining together as a family unit in the tour de force that is the Von Hertzen Brothers in 2000. By the time their 2nd album ‘Approach’ (2006) topped the Finnish chart with its blend of progressive guitar driven rock combined with rich layered vocal harmonies, it was obvious that this band was something unique and special. Von Hertzen Brothers are now on their 9th album, called "In Murmuration" and it's a great album. This is a strong rock and roll album, with songs full of hooks and great performances and singing, and I would like to think that this is the album that breaks them out of Finland and Europe and brings them to the rest of the world. This is the album we will be playing in full this week.

Other new releases worth your time includes "Burning" from the great Chicago punk legends The Effigies. I am saddened to say that this may be their last album, and it was their first in over a decade. Unfortunately their leader was killed in an accident earlier this year. They go out on a high note if this is the case. You should also check out the new album from Queen of Jeans called "All Again", 2nd Grade's "Scheduled Explosions" and of course the new album from Amythyst Kiah called "Still + Bright". All of these albums are available in all the usual places.

The Album Show plays on Thursdays at 9am and 9pm Pacific Standard Time.

RFC 2444

For those of you who stay away from Spotify the current week's additions will be played on Wednesdays. This is a change from prior programming: what we're going to do going forward is just play the music added this week only. Every other day will be the usual rotation, but we set aside Wednesdays for just the new additions for the week. This week that's 52 songs which we will play in the same order that they're in on the Spotify playlist of the same name up at the top of this post. So if you tune in at just about any time on Wednesday you will hear the whole playlist.

10 at 10

One last programming note: Every Saturday at 10pm and again on Sunday at 10am and 10pm we will feature our show "10 at 10", where we play 10 (and sometimes 11 or even 12!) songs from a year we pick at random. Again, all times are PST. Last week I played a group of songs from 1987, and this week we're going to pick another year we haven't gone to yet - some a wee bit more recent.

As always, you can go to https://global.citrus3.com:2020/public/radiofreecalifornia to listen to the station, and there is an imbed below. And did you know the station is available as an app? It's only for Google Play (sorry iphone users - Apples terms and conditions were too restrictive for me) but you can listen on your phone at your convenience too.

Before we get into cheap shots let me say a few words about the Rally at Madison Square Garden last night. Racist, lying, motherfucking, cocksucking sons of bitch NAZI motherfuckers. If these assholes get put in charge again the country as we know it and have known it for all these years is over and done with. That's not hyperbole. That's not an "alternative" fact. It's the fucking TRUTH.

By the way, the number of people who identify as Puerto Rican is every swing state outnumbers the margin that Biden won by in 2020. Trump and all his supporters and sycophants can go get fucked.

Cheap shots:

Elon, if you want to use that word practice in a mirror. You'll be able to see one then.

Okay, it's a good ad. Somewhere along the line people of my generation (I am the same age a Harris and Walz) stopped being afraid to swear. I'm here for it.

I don't want it to be close. The American People deserve to seem him get his ass kicked.

I'd be willing to bet big money that Trump's people don't even know what twitch is, let alone have the stones to do this.

Ooh ! Ooh! Is it that they're fucking each other?

Not sure how intimidating I'm supposed to find the threat of an IRS audit when the person they are praising wants to defund the IRS.

That was actually pretty quick, wasn't it Leon?

Yes, they really are talking about deporting US Citizens.

Can we at long last, finally, please, cancel fucking Doctor Phil?

One thing I notice about all these newspapers who aren't endorsing anyone for President is that all of them, without exception, have not received one-on-one interviews with VP Harris.

Hey Evangelicals, pay attention!

Yes, there is cheating going on already. It's all Right-wingers and Nazis though, not Democrats. Same as always.

And because I love you, have some Aaron Lee Tasjan:

And an extra for you. I am loathe to put up videos by The Lincoln Project because these are only temporary allies. This is a Republican group and for the most part they approved and voted for the policies of Republican administrations. But this is a powerful ad, I must admit.
