New music this week from Julian Lennon, Peter Gabriel, The Rolling Stones, Rainbow Body, Declaw, The Buuys, Bailen, Katie Pruitt, Ben Poole, The Temperance Movement, Devon Gilfillian, Paper Jam, Indoor Foxes, Lambrini Girls, Teenage Dads, The Church and an embarassment of riches more. 74 tracks all told. Enjoy!

Okay, let's start by addressing the elephant: new music from Amy Winehouse, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Three of these are either alternate takes of songs already released and in the case of Petty at. al. a track left off the original album. Only The Rolling Stones have actually released a new song, which does NOT appear on their most recent album. Seeing a lot of nostalgia out there as of late, and there's nothing wrong with that if the talent can deliver and in these cases they can.
The Buoys are a band I've talked about before and their new album "Concrete Cowboy" has finally dropped and it is excellent. This is well-written and well-produced power alt-pop/rock. I've added 3 tracks from the album but I could have picked out more and would have if this week wasn't already heavy with new material. Give the track "The Cloud" a good listen - they don't write 'em like that anymore.
Allison Russell's new album "In the Hour of Chaos" is as good a pop album as you could want. There are many nods to the music of the 1970's, and she's gathered a solid collection of guest artists from Norah Jones to Brittney Spencer to Kashus Culpepper and you'll find the answer to the never-asked question of what if Elton John were a black woman?
I must admit that Ben Poole's rock/blues album "Post Mid-night Behavior" was one I had no clue was coming. I'm generally well in-tune to that scene and until the full album dropped I hadn't noticed a thing. It comes across like a cross between The Black Crowes and Toney Carey and this is a good thing.
I must introduce you to Devon Gilfillian and his most recent album "Time Will Tell". Stylistically he's a bit all over the place with some old-fashioned soul, R&B, but also pop and rock with tracks that sound just as home on a Marvin Gaye record as they do on a Led Zepplin album. The crazy thing is that it works beside the fact that it doesn't seem like it should. The two songs I've added to the playlist are so different that if you weren't paying attention you'd think they were different artists. I have a soft spot in my heart for artists like this, probably because I'm one myself.
The Decembrists appear to have spent a lot of time with the new film "LIAKA". They only have had a couple of singles out so far, but one appears on the soundtrack and another is clearly inspired by it. Having taken a look at the film myself the animation is stunning and I'm looking forward to it.
Finally I must tell you about Rainbow Body, whose self-titled debut album is now out. To me they sound like a cross between The Jam and you proto-typical prog rock band. The album is their only output so far, but I have high hopes for them.

And then I go out to pick up my daughter and we realize it's a full moon, which of course means a new Peter Gabriel song. You all know I've loved his output of the past few years and he refers to "Who Are We Talking To" as a call to activism, but danceable!

Wins in Europe and South America are heartening. Isreal less so, but it's a start. Our turn. Let's deliver.
Two days after losing Flavio already has a US Visa? This administration is so fucking corrupt. We need congress to do its job, we need so many of these people to be locked the fuck up, we need our own version of a "Truth Commission" or whatever the fuck it takes. The rest of the world will never take us seriously again if we can't hold these assholes accountable.
JD Vance couldn't pronounce the name of the town of Helena, Montana. It's almost as if he never watched an episode of "Yellowstone". By the way, Roy Wood Jr. wins the week by pointing out that he's no longer surprised that Vance's mother sold him for drugs. I presume that refers to something in that moronic memoir that first brought him to the national stage.
By the way, Elon Musk (The Junkie) has donated more money to Republican Politics in the past 2 weeks than George Soros has donated to Democrats in his entire life.
Go vote. I already have.

And because I love you, here is the actual live performance from Alanis Morissette with TransVoices performing "Rest".
